Three pillars of quality

One way to conceptualize quality is as having three pillars. The first would be infrastructure. I put in that category a facility that meets all codes, a medical staff that is overwhelmingly boarded, nursing with a low turnover rate, and high nurse to patient ratio, and equipment that functions well, just to name a few measures. The next pillar is processes and methods to continually improve them. The third pillar is outcomes as reflected in various data bases like NSQIP and MVI.
